Wholesale prices (About 25% Off) are available. Wholesale is the purchase of at least one pound of blanks of any shell species. Wholesale prices are available to any buyer, you can purchase for your own use or resell. All prices are subject to change without notice. The Prices of raw shells have increased greatly over the past 18 months. The increased cost to us has been quite high. We now have to pay four to five times more than we were paying for the same quality shells in 2002. We have tried to hold our prices down as much as possible for as long as we could, but now have no choice but to pass some of those costs along to our customers. We will always try to sell our products at the best possible price to you. This will always be controlled by supply and demand as well as our cost of production and shipping, not whim. Ounce Prices; Paua Abalone, (Haliotis, Iris) Available in .030" (.75 mm) .040" (1 mm) .050" (1.25 mm) .060" (1.5 mm) thickness. Priced the same per ounce whatever the thickness*. Thicker blanks should be used in fret boards where you will need to sand the radius after inlay is in place. Thinner blanks are good for flat inlay where little sanding is needed to level the surface. The thinner the blanks, the more coverage per ounce. Blanks of 1 mm will give you more coverage than blanks of 1.5 mm. Small Grade are blanks of mixed thickness. Good for small inlay sections and practice. Paua Abalone, Select Blue ----------------------------- $60.00 When Available Best quality blanks displaying blues, reds and purple as the predominant color. May have some heart material. Paua Abalone, Select ---------------------------------- $50.00 Best quality blanks displaying Greens, yellow, red as well as blue and purple. May have some heart material. *Paua Abalone, Select 30/30 Special ------------------- $30.00 Thirty Thirty Special are blanks of 0.030" thickness for $30 per ounce. Best quality blanks thicknessed to 0.030" (.75 mm) displaying Greens, yellow, red as well as blue and purple. Will have some heart material, #1 size blanks as well as large and small. Too thin for radiused fretboards, but fine for flat areas such as peg heads. About 45 blanks per ounce. A real good deal. Paua Abalone, Select 1/2 Hearted Blanks -------------- $50.00 Best quality blanks a little larger size for this species, displaying Greens, yellow, red as well as blue and purple. Will have heart material on one side and strong regular patterns on the other side. Limited amount available. Paua Abalone, Heart ----------------------------------- $45.00 Best quality heart blanks (from the attachment area of the shell) displaying pink, blue, and gold. Paua Abalone, Small ----------------------------------- $26.00 Small blanks approx. 1/2 to 5/8 inch. Enough slelect material for small inlays. Red Abalone, (Haliotis, rufescens) Available in 0.040" (1 mm) 0.050" (1.25 mm) 0.060" (1.5 mm) thickness. Priced the same per ounce whatever the thickness. Black Mother Of Pearl, Large ------------------- $45.00 (30 Grams) Blanks that are larger than the average for this species with good color flash. Black Mother Of Pearl, Sunburst ---------------- $15.00 (30 Grams) Blanks where the color goes from black to white. Used for shading effect. Black Mother Of Pearl, Marbled ----------------- $22.00 (30 Grams) When Available Blanks where the color goes from black to brownish with a streaking appearance like marble. It is very interesting and will add to your color palette. Black Mother Of Pearl, Small ------------------- $15.00 (30 Grams) Small blanks that still have enough good material for small inlay. These include Good color, Color through, Sunburst and Marbled blanks. __________________________________________________ White Ivory Pearl, (Species, Unknown) Very white color with a curly figure on the face of the blanks. Edge of the blanks have a grained lood like ivory. Available in .050" (1.25 mm) .060" (1.5 mm) .070" (1.75 mm) .080" (2 mm) thickness. Priced the same per ounce whatever the thickness. White Ivory Pearl, #1 ------------------------- $10.00 (30 Grams) White Ivory Pearl, Large ---------------------- $13.00 (30 Grams) ____________________________________________________ Pink Mother-of-pearl, (Cristaria species- a river mussel from SE Asia) Pink/mauve color with striations. Good for flowers and possibly skin tones. Pink Mother-of-Pearl, #1 ---------------------------------------------- $10.00 Blanks are of average size for this species. Pink Mother-of-Pearl, Large ------------------------------------------- $13.00 Blanks are larger than average size for this species. Color same as above. ____________________________________________________ Bronze Mother-of-Pearl, (Species, Pinctada penguine) Also known as Wing Shell or Penguin Shell. Copper/bronze in color with areas yellow to silvery/white. These blanks are more iridescent and more metalic than MOP.Bronze Mother-of-Pearl, #1 ------------------- $22.00 (30 Grams) When Available Blanks are of average size for this species. ______________________________________________________ Smokey Rainbow Pearl, (Species, Unknown) We call this Smokey Rainbow Pearl because we don't know what it really is. One thing we do know is that these are some of the most beautiful shell blanks we have ever seen. These will make very nice rosette tiles or other small inlay sections. The color flash is strong with cool blues and purples to hot fire like orange and red. Very well worth using. Because we do not process this in our shop, we have no control over the thickness. The thickness will be from about .020" to .050" ( .5 mm to 1.25 mm) and not as even as we would like it to be. Also some of the blanks are not as flat as we like. We may at some time in the future process this shell in order to have better control, depending on the demand. The blanks are made from the hinge area of a large muscle shell from China. Only the hinge area has the great color flash and grain patterns. Result is that the blanks are rather small at about .38" X 1.25". Available in half ounce packages at half the ounce price. Smokey Rainbow Pearl, Thickness about .020" ---$28.00 (30 Grams) When Available ______________________________________________________ White Turbo Snail, (Chlorostoma xanthostigma) Also known as Trochas or Green Turbo These small cone shaped snail shells come from Africa. At first glance, these look a lot like white mother of pearl. however, with inspection you'll find that these blanks are far more iridescent than any mother of pearl. The color is very silvery white and the color flash is a strong pink and turquoise. Because the shells these blanks are made from are extremely curved, the blanks have a wonderful rolling light effect as you move the light source. Size of the blanks are from .5" to about 1.25". Avaiable in 0.030", 0.040", 0.050" and 0.060". Because of the curve of the shells these come from, many blanks have a shallow concavity on the back side of the blank. Available in half ounce packages at half the ounce price. In general, pound lots of shell have not been sorted as our ounces have been. For example, we do not separate the Heart material from our Abalone pounds. In White MOP you will get about 60% #1, 15% Large, 15% Figured and 10% Small.
