This fret board design was found on
several mandolins that we found pictures of. However
there were some that were a little longer than others.
The long one is 8.75 inches. (Our Long F4 Fret Board)
The long vine goes right down to the tip of the fret
board where the short one does not go so far, and is
7.55 inches long. (Our Short F4 Fret Board).
While this looks quite good with the
F4 Peg Head inlay, I can see that it is really a better
match for the Weymann Mandolin Peg Head design because
there are many similar details in these that are not
present with the original combination.
I have put these two together here
so you can see how well they go together. The choice
is up to you.
This fret board design would also
look quite nice on a guitar where one of the “Long”
vines could be placed from the 3rd fret to the 12th
fret.
Another guitar option would be to use two “Short”
vines end to end to span the full length of the fret
board. Here again they would go well with our full
sized Weymann Peg Head #1. |
